Under the patronage of Nuremberg’s Mayor Ulrich Maly and in cooperation with the Goethe Institute, the Application Office for the European Capital of Culture, the Toy Museum Nuremberg and Gostner Hoftheater, Papiertheater invites to:

October 18th, 2019 – 10am-7pm

(public & free)

Venue: the Nazi Party Rally Grounds in Nuremberg

In the courtyard of the Congress Hall of the Nazi era. In this place we want to create a counter image.

Construction of the Sculpture of Peace - from plastic weapons collected worldwide

To abolish weapons & end wars has been a crucial demand expressed by the children and adolescents from 30 countries who took part in the 1st Children’s Summit Conference in September 2018.
For a year, young people around the world have been collecting plastic toy weapons to symbolically express their wish for peace. From all the collected plastic weapons, we will create a huge Sculpture of Peace on October 18th – at a memorable site of the fascist era.

Join in with your plastic weapons and help us build the sculpture – everyone can lend a helping hand on October 18th. You can also send your plastic weapons in advance to the Toy Museum in Nuremberg (Spielzeugmuseum, Karlstr. 1, 90403 Nuremberg. Please include your first name, age and location.)

So far, 18 countries are already participating in collecting plastic weapons (Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Palestine, Greece, North Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, Spain, Malaysia, USA, Australia – more countries will be added. )

Everyone can join the "disarmament from below". Spread the word!

The construction of the Sculpture of Peace is public and embedded in an extensive supporting program. Young people, politicians and artists will contribute with speeches, music, dance and poetry slams.

The exhibition of the 1000 "conference books"
of the Children's Conference (2014-2018) will be displayed for the last time on October 18th. After that, all books will be sent back to the respective children and adolescents.

Of course, schools, youth centers and kindergartens can become active themselves and collect plastic weapons independently. In this case, please have the initiators contact the Papiertheater:
