"I spy with my little eye ..."
With this children's play the theater begins ... about our daily theater of different visual habits.

It is a game with images.
"May I introduce, this is Plato". (A table tennis bat with a face appears)
"And these are his thoughts." (A table tennis ball bounces up and down)

The production dares the balancing act between the philosophical question of Plato's cave allegory and childlike play. 
In a funny, sensual and imaginative way silhouettes emerge on a large paper wall, narrating the parable of the cave. There are people living inside who know only silhouettes. That is why they believe that these shadows are the real life. 
But then the stage shines in a new light. One person emerges from the cave and recognizes the connection – light and shadow belong together! The other people in the cave, however, see things differently ...

This production lives by the simplicity of its narrative style and surprises with an astonishing variety of optical images. The clamped paper becomes the stage on which the cave allegory is developing and asking with a wink: What cave are we living in?

The production of HÖHLEN GESCHICHTE has been created under the direction of children and is tied to the previous production of KUGELMENSCHEN (“Spherical People”).
